Shared Pathways Fund
Shared Pathways Fund is an initiative aimed at empowering refugee-led and refugee-serving businesses across Kenya in partnership with IRC Kenya (see press release here).
Despite their resilience and potential, refugee entrepreneurs in Kenya often face systemic barriers to accessing finance, including limited collateral, lack of formal credit history, and restrictive policies. Shared Pathways Fund to bridge this gap by unlocking much-needed capital for these high-potential businesses, enabling them to grow, create jobs, and strengthen local economies.

As Program Associate, Esther supports the implementation of the Green Growth Alliance programme, working closely with mentors, partners, and portfolio companies to drive climate adaptation and gender equality through targeted support and shared learning.
With over five years of experience implementing programs across Sub-Saharan Africa, Esther brings deep expertise in SME development, agribusiness, gender-focused, and impact-driven initiatives. Esther previously served as Program Officer- Business Advisory (WEE) at AECF, where she managed a women economic empowerment project aimed at building their capacity in entrepreneurship and improving green skills. Prior to joining AECF, Esther was the Enterprise Development Team Lead for the Nairobi Region at KCB Foundation.
Esther has a Bachelor in Science (Agriculture Education and Extension) from University of Nairobi. She is currently pursuing a Master in Science (International Business Management) at University of East London.
Investment Criteria for SMEs
Daraja Impact aims to catalyze additional funding through the mix of grants, loans and technical assistance focused on growth and capital raise. Applicants should pursue Daraja Impact funding in conjunction with other fundraising targets. Businesses that are actively fundraising are encouraged to apply.
Investment Criteria:
• Country: Tanzania
• Sectors: Open to any sector as long as the company has a focus on women and/or youth
• Revenue: Companies with a minimum annual revenue of USD 300k
• Years in operation: Companies that have been in operation for at least 2 years
• Impact Focus: Applicants must show a commitment to progressive gender and/or youth impact in their historical activities or forward-looking growth plans as demonstrated by company ownership, workforce, supply chain, and/or customer base.
