P4G - Safi Organics

With support from WRI/P4G, AlphaMundi Foundation is proud to partner with Safi Organics, an organic fertilizer manufacturing company in Kenya. Our partnership will help to scale Safi Organics’ decentralized, climate-smart fertilizer model across Kenya to strengthen smallholder resilience, address soil degradation, and unlock private sector climate finance. By sourcing agricultural waste from rural youth and transforming it into carbon-negative fertilizers, the initiative improves farm productivity, creates rural employment, and promotes circular economies. In parallel, the partnership is enhancing Safi Organics’ investor readiness, exploring alternative biomass sources and new revenue streams to reinforce the commercial viability of local climate solutions, while also contributing to policy development and ecosystem-building for sustainable agriculture.

Soil degradation costs Kenya an estimated USD 4 billion annually, with smallholder farmers facing declining productivity and dependence on expensive imported fertilizers. Safi Organics tackles this challenge by decentralizing fertilizer production and turning local agricultural waste into affordable, carbon-negative, soil-specific fertilizers. This innovation not only boosts yields by up to 30% but also improves long-term soil health while sequestering carbon in the soil.

Our partnership, supported by WRI/P4G, aims to scale this proven model and strengthen the enabling ecosystem for climate-smart agriculture.
