What is the Green Growth Alliance Program?

The Green Growth Appliance (GGA) Program is an initiative by AlphaMundi Foundation, in partnership with the U.S.-Japan Foundation, designed to support high impact climate-focused SMEs with a focus on gender inclusion. The program facilitates mentorship and knowledge exchange by connecting participating SMEs with mentors from the U.S.A and Japan fostering innovation, sustainability, and inclusive economic growth by equipping enterprises with the tools, knowledge, and global perspectives to scale and improve their commercial viability.

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

  • Businesses registered and operating in Kenya

  • Business operating in climate sectors such as renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, e-mobility, etc. 

  • Minimum operation track record of two years.

  • Demonstrate a strong gender focus. This may include female representation in ownership, leadership, governance (board), workforce, supply chain, or in products and services designed to benefit women.

  • Commitment to actively participate in monthly virtual mentorship sessions with mentors from the U.S. and Japan, as well as in-person attendance at the program’s launch and closing events in Nairobi.

What are the program objectives?

  • To provide support for climate-focused African SMEs through high quality mentorship that helps bridge the gap to scalability and long-term sustainability.

  • Strengthen environmental and social impact by equipping enterprises with the tools and knowledge to embed sustainability and inclusivity into their business models.

  • Broader ecosystem impact by creating a space for exchange to foster innovation, resilience, and inclusive practices within the climate entrepreneurship space.

  • Knowledge exchange between and amongst mentors and mentees encouraging cross-cultural learning and collaboration.

  • Enhance the partnership between the Africa, US, and Japan towards SDGs

What is the duration of the program?

The mentorship program will run from July 2025 to December 2025, with a final in-person event scheduled for January 2026. For mentees, the program will kick off with an in-person launch event on 1st July 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya, followed by monthly virtual mentoring sessions that will run until December 2025. The closing event will be held in January 2026. The date will be communicated during the course of the program.

How many SMEs will be selected for participation?

15 climate-focused SMEs will be selected, with each being matched to a group of 3-5 mentors from the U.S. and Japan for cross learning. 

If selected, what will my participation in the program involve? 

As a participant, you will engage in a variety of activities designed to promote learning, collaboration, and growth. These include:

  • Monthly virtual mentorship sessions 

  • Peer-to-peer learning with other participating SMEs

  • Knowledge exchange opportunities to share insights and best practices

  • In-person networking events in Nairobi

  • Opportunities to build connections and partnerships with mentors and industry stakeholders from Kenya, the U.S., and Japan.

    How can I apply to the Green Growth Appliance (GGA) Program?

Applications can be submitted through the AlphaMundi Foundation website. The application period runs from 21st May 2025 to 6th June 2025 at 5:00 PM (EAT). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged. Click here to apply

Do I need to pay to participate in the program?

No. There is no cost to apply or participate in the program.

Am I required to participate for the entire duration of the program?

Yes. We strongly encourage all selected participants to commit to actively participating in all scheduled sessions and events throughout the program to gain all the benefits of the mentorship, cross-cultural knowledge exchange, and networking opportunities the program offers.

Will the program provide funding for my business?

No. This program focuses on technical assistance and knowledge exchange and does not provide direct financial support or investment to participating SMEs.
